the ultimate riding machines
All Hickman Bike frames are made and assembled in the UK using high quality Chromoly steel tubing. Each tube is machined to fit perfectly with other tubes where they meet at junctions and are then held in place by a special jig designed by myself prior to being TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welded. Completed frames come with ready assembled saddle and handlebar adjusting mechanisms along with the necessary tools to adjust them. A brief description of how these adjusting mechanisms work is given below:-
The saddle position
This can be adjusted for height by changing the length of the saddle support strut. This has three telescopic sections that can be extended or retracted as required. The saddle can also be adjusted for reach and setback behind the bottom bracket centre line. This is achieved by pulling out or pushing in the saddle mounting tube.
These can be adjusted independently for height, stem length, stem angle and handlebar angle. This is achieved by virtue of a specially designed handlebar mounting system that enables an infinite number of handlebar positions to be created. Once the rider is satisfied that the handlebar position is the correct one then there is an option to use a replacement conventional stem that mimics the set position.
Whatever cycling style is adopted together with an associated optimum riding position the Hickman Frame has the following frame statistics that remain constant irrespective of the seat and handlebar positions.
Chainstay Length 420mm
BB Drop 70mm
Head Tube Angle 73 degrees
Weight (without forks) 860grams
